The hotel bar itself has become a destination. The best examples are familiar but in transit, providing weary breath for tired travelers, a launch pad for an exciting night, or the elegance of an elaborate cocktail.
The first Forbes Travel Guide 2025 star-rated commemorating the world’s most outstanding hotel bar experience. An eternal idol, such as Le Bar Américain in Monaco, located in Monte-Carlo, Hôtel de Paris, shows every day why it has endured its jazz atmosphere and nighttime music since the 1930s, from Josephine Baker to Lady Gaga. Then there are new favorites, such as the BKK Social Club at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chao Phraya River, which connects to North and South America, displays Mexican-style drinks in a dazzling Nouveau space that evokes Buenos Aires.
The inaugural list also includes Sky Bars – including Skyhigh’s lounge and bar at 60th and 102th floor of Four Seasons Hotel in PhiladelphiaND Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong’s floors and novel drinking dens, such as Rosewood London’s Scarf Bar, draws inspiration from the famous work of British cartoonist Gerald Scarfe and Kimpton Seafire Resort Resort + Spa by the Sea, a Cayman Hot that tells literary works with creative cocktails.
Forbes Travel Guide recognized 58 bars this year in celebration of its founding as the Mobil Travel Guide in 1958. FTG’s experts, the Stealth Inspector, participated in each inspector, sampling the cocktails during multiple visits. Winners are determined based on several strict criteria, data collected by a portion of FTG 2024 and 2025 star ratings. The top bar scores the highest drink plans and presentations and offers seamless service and a great guest experience. FTG also focuses on publicly visited hotel bars.
London has the highest honors, with seven bars, followed by Paris, five shots and Dubai in four. On the brand side, the four seasons of Hotels and Resorts received eight attractions, Rosewood Hotels and Resorts, the St. Regis Hotels and Resorts, and the Ritz-Carlton Hotels Company tied with five winners.
